MATERIAL BAR
Anselma is an ethical, sustainable, and ecological collective that creates sustainable clothing from discarded textile pieces. In collaboration with visitors, the members of the collective are sewing garments made up of colourful combinations, tailored collages from deadstock fabrics. They involve visitors in their working process with a spatial installation - a button sorting station that turns a usually dull labour activity into a fun and exciting aesthetic experience.

Anselma was founded in 2010, initially as a provider of tailoring and sewing courses. It quickly became a meeting point for artists, designers, makers, and the general public interested in these fields. In addition to education and co-working, it has organized events and established Š-fitness, a sewing fitness space equipped with tools and machines for personal projects.
In 2018, Anselma expanded its offerings with the in-house clothing brand Made in Anselma. The brand features timeless, gender-neutral garments made from discarded and vintage fabrics sourced mainly from former seamstresses and defunct manufacturing workshops in the former Yugoslavia. The brand is regularly showcased at Ljubljana Fashion Week and has twice received the WOW Award for sustainability.
For 13 years, Anselma has been dedicated to preserving and expanding knowledge of the craft of sewing, the origins of clothing, and textiles in general. It places a strong emphasis on repurposing used objects, which is reflected both in its fashion brand and in the ambiance of its spaces. The workshop and store provide a comprehensive insight into the process of garment creation.
Anselma plays a key role in connecting individuals with shared interests. It serves as an incubator for artists and makers and has established itself as a go-to resource for textile-related projects. It collaborates with various groups, organizations, and individuals, primarily in the fields of art and culture. Currently, its team consists of five women from fashion, painting, ceramics, and architecture.
Since its inception, Anselma has remained a completely independent organization.
